Current Work: Busy Times

I used to blog regularly...well, somewhat regularly. As of lately I have been busy with everything from classes, to ongoing commercial work, to my own personal projects, to all things life... and the blog has largely gone "unposted." I'm going to make a shift to less writing, while focusing more posting images, photographs, and video I may be making at any one point in time. We'll see how this goes but it's an attempt to getting work out there instead of sitting in digital archives. Hopefully work of all forms, from film, to Instagram, will populate this space for the foreseeable future. So look for new things and if you're interested in throwing something out there, drop me a line and I'll see if I can get around to dropping it in a post.

As always, more to come...

From Forever Ago....

Where do I start? I’ve been off the grid for so long now, it's a shock to be writing again.  I used to blog all the time…well, ahem, write as often as I could… and then all sorts of things cropped up and *poof* there went the time for any such writing.   I didn’t even get a chance to rock a top ten list for music of 2012 as the year came and went so fast, I barely had time to give it a second thought. That’s usually a keystone post for me and I couldn’t get behind the desk to get something down in writing. Although, for those who know me, one would probably assume that post would be composed of the new Ellie Goulding album, the new The Killers album and then finish things off with multiple 2012 albums from Bvdub. I believe there has been a similar post like that in the past. I know, I know… a little unsurprising but I listen to what I like. Anyway, that’s probably four of my top ten there.   But as things go, I’m going to try and start writing again. I hope to write more, post more and generally be more active. And while this isn’t a long post, it’s a good start.   More to come…   Also, this image happened between 08/12 and 01/13...the metadata would tell me but, in mystery there is beauty...

Inspiration: Newton Running

So recently I needed new running shoes and I was dragging my feet a bit to make a decision. It was more about staying with a type of shoe I have always run with or trying something new. In an effort to think out of the box a bit... try some new technology while fine tuning my running style a bit… I went with Newtons. I've been following the blog, The Running Front by Newton for a couple years now and felt that Newton would provide me with a shoe I was looking for.  In the least I felt they were a shoe design that addressed foot shape and performance (not all shoes create a wide shoe). Since I've gotten them about two weeks ago, I've put some miles down and I'm still stoked. The "Action/Reaction Technology" in combination with a wide shoe, (the The Sir Isaac's, seems like just the right shoe for me. After years as a gymnast I have a foot structure with lower than normal arches and a considerably wider foot. The Newtons have been solid thus far as it's a shoe that accommodates both areas. They do seem to have a little less heal coverage than my last shoe but I'm not convinced at this time that's a bad thing for me.   I'm running the Chicago 10k benefiting Livestrong foundation in August and I'll be looking forward to using them there. I'm not planning on winning or anything but the new kicks are sure going to make my run more enjoyable. It'll also be interesting to run on another surface. I also gotta throw out a huge thanks to the Newton team for making my order happen. I had to phone it in old school. Good times.   If you run, hope you get out this weekend…hopefully some new projects on the blog next weekend but as always, busy times behind the desk, so we'll see. Go running, go Newton!

Inspiration: Almost There - The Muir Project

I would like to meet these people.

Almost There - The Muir Project from The Muir Project on Vimeo.

About the project:   During the summer of 2011, a group of multimedia artists spent 25 days hiking the 219 mile long John Muir Trail. The intent was to capture their experience on the trail and bring it back to the general public in the form of a gallery exhibit including photographs, video installations and hands-on displays that allow visitors to truly get a feeling for the beauty and majesty of the trail without the burning lungs and blisters. Alongside the exhibit will be a feature length documentary chronicling their adventures on the trail.

Inspiration: Nature

Two really inspirational videos about getting outside for a midweek-post.    And this one is a bit more intense but good none-the-less...     On another note the GVSU Fall Photo Meet Up has been canceled in advance due to rain + cold + wind....you know...Michigan fall.   More to come...
