It’s the last day of the month and another check-in on the blog. May brought a very cold spring but another opportunity to photograph the River Bank Run in Grand Rapids. As a “just happy to get out there” runner I really enjoy photographing this event where tremendous athletes and people pushing themselves to meet running goals are everywhere (I realize this happens every race but this is hometown joy here lol). I really enjoy the race environment and being surrounded by running. I’m always looking to tell stories and share people’s journeys in movement. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to work with Chris Gates and his story. When summer comes around, it’s always in the back of my mind, should I fire up a passion project and tell an athlete story? Maybe a running story? Are things too busy? Maybe this will be another summer where I go down that road again. In the meantime, it was really great to be part of River Bank again this year. Hopefully next year I’ll be behind the lens again, looking to capture moments as they happen, and provide a little running inspiration for myself and others. Maybe I’ll see you out there! And if not, I’ll hopefully see you next month here!
