Artist: Sarah Lewis, Adorn + Haiti Event

I've been meaning to write about Sarah Lewis for forever now but last week I kept writing about animation...which isn't bad, but I can't seem to find the time to write enough. Anyway, I had the pleasure of working with Sarah on several times in Savannah and I can say her work is nothing but quality.

She recently opened up a store in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia called adorn (same link as her site if you've been to it already).

And now I wanted to get this out there, she's is holding an event to benefit Haiti on January 27th. From her site:

We will be running a Haiti Relief Donation Drive in partnership with the Haiti Benefit Concert on Wednesday, January 27th at the Silk City. Please bring your donations to the show!! We will be running a donations booth inside the venue throughout the entire show.

We will also be collecting items such as clothing, shoes, tools, toiletries, canned goods, etc. starting now until January 29, 2010 at the store.

Haiti Benefit Concert lineup will include the Lotus trio featuring Luke & Jesse Miller with Mike Greenfield, Sonic Spank plus DJ Sonkin with special guest appearances from members of Brothers Past and Bodega. Doors for this event open at 9:00pm and tickets are $10. 100% of proceeds goes to the Red Cross.

For more information on this event please visit:
Haiti Benefit Concert Event Page.

That's totally cool. I unfortunately am not in Philadelphia or I'd for sure have to check it out. If you're up for a little more reading there was this article posted on readymade that has a ton of info about her life/store/making wonderful jewelry. Really a wonderful little piece.

An image from one of the projects where I featured her work:

(you can see the full set here)

It's really wonderful work and I encourage you (if you're near by of course) to stop by to see the pieces in person. It also looks like a sweet space too, which has this awesome little addition called the window...again from the site:

The window at adorn is a project started by Greg and Sarah in the fall of 2009. The window provides artists with a space to display their work. Each month is dedicated to a new artist. It is exciting for us to see all the different installations set up. If you have a question about the window, or want to find out how you can display your artwork here, contact us!

Cool. I totally want to check the space out And I might actually get the chance to as I'm going to Philadelphia in March for another epic SPE 2010.

Anyway, more to come on more stuff later this week...

Cheers.
